Leading out of the ASKhole® Trap

Employees show ASKhole® behaviors when they ask leaders to do their work (when they have the resources and skills) and when they ask leaders questions that they know the answer to.  

This type of behavior really stems from the employee's stress and the spin they throw themselves into.  

This training focuses on how to redirect employee's spin so they own their work and leaders have more time to focus on the leadership work that will achieve ambitious goals.​​

Leadership 101

It takes a village.  And my role in this course is to support your company's leadership onboarding efforts. 

This course is structured to provide: 

  • A space for the new leader to dive into their identity and development as a leader

  • Apply newly acquired skills to their new environment

  • A space where the new leader can ask "dumb questions" without worrying about what their new boss might think 


This course focuses on topics such as:

  • Understanding what you value as a leader

  • Developing your leadership identity

  • How to give and receive feedback 

  • How to have tough conversations

Active Listening

One of the most powerful skills in leadership is active listening.  And... one of the hardest skills in leadership is active listening. 

​

Active listening is transformational because: 

  • It helps individuals pull out of the day-to-day spin

  • It creates a pause for reflection

  •  It helps people see how they are showing up 

​

In this interactive workshop, participants will

  • Practice skills to be effective active listeners

  • Walk away with tools to empower their employees

  • Develop strategies to build stronger problem solvers

Emotional Intelligence

Emotional intelligence (EQ) is argued to be more important than IQ. Emotional intelligence has these four categories:

​

- relationship management

- social awareness

- self-management

- self-awareness

​

EQ is an intelligence that can be fostered and developed over time.  

 

This training challenges participants to unlearn behaviors and empowers them to develop new neural pathways to show up better and stronger as leaders.​

Behavior-Based Interviewing

Being a leader does not assume interview skills.  In fact, not spending enough time on developing interview skills is costly. 

​​

On average, an employee's turnover costs the organization between 30%-50% of that employee's salary.  Ouch! 

 

That stat doesn't include the frustration and energy wasted from those onboarding the employees.

​​

This training explores what the leader can to do truly assess the employee's skills.  

​

Additionally, the training provides an opportunity to assess what the organization does to proactively prepare for interviews and set up the process that will earn you winning candidates that stay! â€‹â€‹â€‹

Communication
Tips to Win

What it the typical #1 complaint of employees?  Communication.  There's either not enough communication, or ineffective communication, or unclear communication.  

 

If communication is such a common complaint, you'd think leaders would be so much better at it.  That would be the case if communication wasn't so nuanced and complex.

 

In this training, leaders will: 

  • Explore communication norms 

  • Identify how their employees experience their communication at work 

  • ​Develop skills to translate messages so they are heard​
